Growth Mindsets
In grade 5A, we make the most of Homeroom time. The mornings are important to make a strong start. We have some routines like arranging our resources for learning, exchanging school administrative matters, show'n tell, games and videos that inspire us to do our best. We've discovered some facts about our brain & how we learn best. Here's what we know –
- Our brains control our emotions.
- Our brains need water, sleep and a positive outlook to learn at an optimal level.
- Our brains can change! You never stop learning if you develop a 'growth mindset'. People who have a 'fixed mindset' give up on themselves.
- Our brains like to learn challenging things – easy doesn't help complex thinking.
- Our brains like to learn with visuals & MOVEMENT!
- It's important to use the left & right side of our brains.
